This needs to be said
I can’t help but wonder if menopause was treated like a rite of passage, an honour, a source of wisdom and power if we would be experiencing menopause in the same way?
Is the way women are being treated, controlled and made to fit into moulds not made for them a key factor?
Not every place treats women in midlife like they are past it, talks of anti aging and fixates on her outward image. Not every culture buys into this. Nor every culture sends elders to old age people’s homes.
A women is either too young or too old, never just right. And in archetypical patriarchal systems women are possessions. We see command and control, we see cohesive behaviours around money, sex and power.
We need to do better
This needs to be said. The menopause industry is doing a great job of raising awareness of symptoms BUT it’s failing to talk about the deeper meanings.
We’ve gone from we don’t talk about it to we remove stigma and shame and we talk about it. A lot of great foundational work has been done and we have a lot more to do.
Now we need to evolve further because there is too much fear surrounding what is a natural life phase for every woman.
That the mission is to get back to normal and push through, not complain and hold it all while smiling!
Peri-menopause as a green light
Life stage transitions do not actually mean decline.
Yes, it’s easy to see it as a red flag when you’re juggling 48+ symptoms, an overloaded schedule and a culture that’s deeply anti-ageing.
But after 14 years of working with women navigating this transition, I’ve learned something different.
Menopause is actually a green light when handled with love, care and honour.
Time to shift
I can’t help but wonder how we arrived here. How menopause became a story of decline instead of a source of power.
Menopause arrives in a culture that has already taught us to fear ageing. We’re told our value lives in our appearance, productivity, fertility and ability to stay unchanged.
So we push through, ignore the signs of time and treat transition as something to survive. Read more.
Words create reality
Words Create Women’s Reality. The language we use about women’s bodies is not neutral. It shapes diagnosis. It shapes treatment. It shapes how women see themselves.
Often, that language is rooted in outdated, male-centred models of health and power. I’ve had a lifetime of being told my body was “too much” – and “not enough.” Read more here.
Outing an old myth
Outing an old myth. When women reach the C-suite, they close the door behind them.
That may have been true before but it certainly hasn’t been my experience over the past 14 years of coaching.
What I’ve witnessed instead is amazingly talented women hiring me to help them build their legacy.

Time to rant
We’ve been talking a lot about empowerment and how it can feel disempowering when it’s used out of context for women.
Let me elaborate. Women are naturally powerful. They don’t need anyone to put the power inside them. They don’t need permission to be who they are. They give themselves permission to feel and show their power.
True empowerment is like the hummingbird’s wings that can be felt in the chest when a woman remembers who she is.
