Peri-menopause as a green light
Karen is a Certified Professional Coach & Women’s Health Ambassador.
Today marks the start of Menopause Awareness Month. I want you to know this: Peri - menopause - post-menopause doesn’t mean decline.
Yes, it’s easy to see it as a red flag when you’re juggling 48+ symptoms, an overloaded schedule and a culture that’s deeply anti-ageing.
I have no desire to minimalise this experience. We still need emotional support to release our rage and sorrows, we need diagnostic tools, self-belief support, empowering conversations and nervous system support, but this is only one side of the coin.
But after 14 years of working with women navigating this transition, I’ve learned something different.
When approached with honour & care, Menopause is actually a green light.
Over the last decade and a half, I’ve sat with hundreds of women navigating this transition. And while the symptoms are real and the challenges are valid, something else emerges when we create space for a different understanding.
Menopause becomes less about decline and more about redesign.
It becomes an invitation to question the story we’ve inherited about what it means to be a woman, to age and to lead. A rite of passage, not a body failure.
The Green Lights of Menopause:
When women stop fighting this transition and start leaning into it, I see them:
✨ Start again - with careers, relationships, boundaries and self-concept
✨ Find their no + their yes - to themselves, first
✨ Stop people-pleasing - the good girl conditioning finally loses its grip
✨ Step into wisdom, clarity and impact - because they’ve earned it
This isn’t about “just think positive.” Women deserve accurate information, compassionate healthcare and practical support. This is about creating space for a different understanding: one where menopause is met with dignity, curiosity and self-compassion.
Why it feels like decline (and why it’s not)
Menopause arrives in a culture that has already taught us to fear ageing. We’re told our value lives in our appearance, productivity, fertility and ability to stay unchanged.
So we push through, ignore the signs of time and treat transition as something to survive.
But disruption ≠ failure.
Menopause is not evidence that you are losing your power. With the right care, understanding and community, it can become the transition through which you reclaim it.
A Workplace Approach That Starts at 35
Our approach is workplace-based and starts to make an impact for women as they approach 35 - because perimenopause can begin earlier than many expect, and preparation changes everything.
We support women through perimenopause (6–10 years of transition), menopause (12 months without a period) and post-menopause (the chapter that follows).
When women understand this transition as a source of leadership, power and wisdom - not a decline - everything shifts.
It’s time to reframe the story
It’s time to see menopause as THE chance to redesign your life.
Join the Tribe
If you’re ready to stop surviving menopause and start reclaiming it as a source of power, you’re in the right place.
Our Menopause Advantage work is built on three principles:
• Not pretending everything is easy
• Creating symptom support and deeper meaning
• Menopause is not evidence that you are losing your power
With the right care, understanding and community, it can become the transition through which you reclaim it.
My work specialises in life-stage transitions & supporting women from 30+ through post-menopause in the workplace and beyond.
