Chasing Magic: A Midlife Quest for Daily Enchantment

Lately, I’ve been on a dreaming quest; a search for magic and everyday enchantment.

What began as a simple desire for more feel-good energy and a chance to rediscover myself as an almost-fifty-something has started to shift things in ways I didn’t expect. Wonder, connection, and joy have been quietly showing up, reminding me that magic often lives right under our noses.

This Easter, I decided to give time to chasing that magic. My daughter, Catalina, joined in wholeheartedly. We’ve had so much fun together - the kind that leaves your ribs sore from laughter and your heart light. Those moments have been some of the best I’ve experienced in years.

I wanted to share some of what I’ve learned through this little adventure in case it sparks something for you too - an invitation to shake off the dust and reach for something lighter, higher, and more fulfilling.

When we set out to chase something (joy, magic, peace etc), if we are consistent, we start noticing that it’s already woven into our lives. It may not be obvious at first, but when we place our intention on what we long for, what we want, need, and desire; our gaze widens. And widening our gaze is deeply healing.

Over time, I’ve grown to love the observer’s chair. Perhaps midlife offers that gift - the beautiful calm that comes when FOMO finally lets go. I don’t have to be at the centre of everything anymore. Watching life unfold, with attention and compassion, feels far richer.

There’s one picture from this season that feels truly magical to me: my husband pegging out the washing (he genuinely loves doing that 💛), our puppy is out of shot. My vase of spring flowers - the only thing that survived when we sold our appartment in Barcelona. It belonged to my grandmother, and it holds generations of love and stories. Somehow, it feels like an anchor to both the past and present, reminding me that everyday moments are the real magic.

The moment that reminded me that magic, wonder and joy are inside jobs

Life is wild.

Life is sweet and sour.

Life keeps inviting us to feel, to look deeper, to remember who we really are - soul sovereigns, queens of our own space.

So dream. It’s good for you. It brings you home - back to your heart - and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find the magic waiting where you least expect it. 🕊️
